Make it easy, make it one
Should you consolidate your accounts? Put all your eggs in one basket? Somewhere. sometime, someone said not to do that. Occasionally a client I have spoken with have used this rationale to explain why they have not consolidated their investments. I want to offer a different perspective. How many head coaches does a winning team have? How many conductors does a symphony have? How many Drivers does a bus have? The answer to all of these questions is the same. Just one.
I have a client who was dealing with 4 different investment companies and trying to coordinate and manage a plan complete with distributions, allocations and accounting. Not only was it time consuming and stressful, but also almost impossible.
